Perhaps for Sweetie Belle, do a Warhammer 40k Noise-Marine look, with inbuilt speakers, amps etc. adorning her armor segments and an eyes-covering helm, as she is depicted as very talented as a singer, but shy about singing in front of others.
For Applebloom try an SCV or Probe (Orig Starcraft style) type construction arms, werhaps where a set of wings would be on a pegasus, as she's shown to have a certain skill for fixing and making (when she's working on her own)
